Malaysia's Defence Ministry has suspended all hand grenade training nationwide following a fatal blast at Hobart Camp in Kedah that claimed two lives. The investigation will examine weapons handling procedures and personnel readiness.
Private Siti Khadijah Sungip, 24, of the Royal Engineer Regiment, was buried in Kluang on June 17 after dying in a grenade training accident at Hobart Camp, Gurun, Kedah. A second soldier also died in the incident.
Two Malaysian Army personnel died in a grenade explosion during combat training at Hobart Camp in Gurun on June 16. Police have launched a sudden death investigation and are gathering witness statements to determine the cause.
