Bangladesh Parliament to Elect BNP's Alamgir as New President
Bangladesh's parliament is set to elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, 78-year-old secretary general of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party, as the country's 23rd president. The largely ceremonial role comes after the 2024 revolution ousted former premier Sheikh Hasina.
