Japan's Ancient Asuka-Fujiwara Sites Recognised as UNESCO World Heritage
UNESCO has inscribed Japan's Asuka-Fujiwara archaeological cluster as a World Heritage site, becoming the country's 27th such designation. The 19 sites spanning the 6th to 8th centuries reveal how Japan's centralised state emerged through interaction with China and the Korean Peninsula.
