The trial judge overseeing the 1MDB case has delivered scathing findings against former Prime Minister Najib Razak, concluding that he exhibited no genuine contrition and repeatedly attempted to shift responsibility throughout the proceedings.
In his assessment, the judge determined that Najib had exploited his substantial governmental authority to orchestrate what stands as one of the world's largest financial corruption and money laundering schemes. The former leader's manipulation of his position facilitated the alleged misappropriation of vast sums through the state investment fund.
The court's observations regarding Najib's conduct throughout the trial process painted a picture of a defendant unwilling to accept accountability for his role in the scandal. Rather than demonstrating remorse for his alleged involvement, Najib consistently attempted to deflect culpability elsewhere.
