Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil outlined the multi-agency approach following a gotong-royong event in Lembah Pantai, signalling renewed urgency in tackling what public health officials describe as an alarming surge in infections across the country.

The proposal represents a shift toward leveraging Malaysia's traditional community spirit and civic participation as a frontline tool against dengue transmission. Rather than relying solely on conventional disease surveillance and targeted spraying, the Communications Ministry intends to work closely with the Ministry of National Unity and the Ministry of Health to design a comprehensive gotong-royong framework that engages residents at the grassroots level.
