Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has called on MADANI Communities nationwide to shoulder collective responsibility for communicating accurate and verified information regarding government policies and accomplishments to the public, rather than depending entirely on dedicated agencies.

Addressing participants at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, Fahmi emphasised that disseminating reliable information should be a shared endeavour across government departments and community-based organisations. The Information Department (JAPEN) and Community Communications Department (J-KOM) alone cannot handle this crucial function, he noted.

The minister highlighted key government achievements that require broader communication, including food security measures such as maintaining adequate rice stocks during festive periods through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. He also pointed to the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS), administered by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, which has made subsidised cooking oil more accessible to consumers. These successes, realised under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's administration, must reach the grassroots through MADANI Communities, he stressed.

During the event, Fahmi presented appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 term. The Communications Ministry plans to conduct regular briefing sessions to equip community leaders with current policy information and government initiatives that require public awareness.

Fahmi announced that JAPEN would monitor MADANI Community performance to maintain their effectiveness in grassroots information distribution. He warned that inactive communities would face scrutiny, and non-performing leaders could be replaced to ensure consistent service delivery and public engagement.
